Save Money by Shopping at Habitat ReStores
Whether you consider yourself a DIY master or someone just looking to do minor fixes around the house, saving money on the project is always top of the list. No matter what the project, you should start it by stopping off at your local Habitat ReStore.
If you are not familiar with the charity, Habitat for Humanity uses volunteer labor and donated supplies to build housing for low-income families. The Habitat ReStores resell donated supplies (usually for home improvement) at reduced prices. Anything from lumber to paint to lighting to appliances – yes, even the kitchen sink!
Southern Maryland is home to a couple ReStores:
- Prince George’s County
4529 Rhode Is Ave
Brentwood, MD 20722-1225
- Charles County
8275 Old Leonardtown Rd
Hughesville, MD 20637
3270 Leonardtown Road
Waldorf, MD 20601
Be sure to stop in often since new supplies come in everyday. If you would also like to contribute your knowledge and expertise, you can volunteer at your local ReStore as part of their volunteer staff!
If you’re considering doing some repairs or updates to your home prior to listing it, contact me! I’ve read the most recent national reports on the most profitable home upgrades and can advise you on how to get the most bang for your buck!

I have found some really amazing things AND donated some great stuff to the ReStore. I’m in Austin and they just closed the location near our home, but it’s still a really great way to save money- you’d be amazed at what you can find!
Thanks for stopping by Lani! It’s really quite shocking how much great stuff you can find there, I’m sad to hear they closed the one near you!
