Maryland Earthquake

Yes, you read that right.  I’ve lived in Maryland for decades, but I’ve never felt an earthquake out here!  It was minor, as far as earthquakes go, and I’m sure Californians are snickering at the shock and reaction of us east coast-types, but WOW!

Apparently it was felt as far north as New York (and possibly further), so it was a pretty big quake, possibly as strong as 5.9 locally.  Twitter and Facebook are blowing up about it right now, and I’m sure we will hear about damage reports shortly.  I hope everyone is okay!

Did you experience the Earthquake, tell us what you felt and saw!

**UPDATE**

The Charles County Dept. of Emergency Services reports that as of 2:15 p.m., the Harry W. Nice Bridge in Newburg is closed. The bridge spans the Potomac River into Virginia. The bridge will remain closed until a safety inspection is completed, say authorities.

**UPDATE**

The Harry W. Nice Bridge has been reopened!
